If you are attending the annual Wines from Spain tasting at Old Billingsgate this year be sure to try the wines from the Hallgarten Druitt and Novum portfolios. The lineup displays the brilliance and diversity that has helped Spanish wines increase their recognition in the UK over the past 12 months.
While Hallgarten Druitt’s portfolio covers the principal Spanish regions and boasts such great producers as diverse as the Reserva specialist Bodegas Ondarre in Rioja to Rueda’s brilliant Javier Sanz, Novum’s selection embraces some of the lesser known regions.
Look out for some of Spain’s newest wineries in the sensational Moli dels Capellans from Conca de Barbera and the luminary Compania Vitivinicola Tandem from Navarra, both are sure to surprise and seduce any wine enthusiast.
New to this year’s Annual Wines from Spain Tasting is Novum’s latest recruit, Bodegas y Viñedos Linaje Garsea, a real family operation that makes incredible wines with a real sense of terroir in the Ribera del Duero. A must try on the day is their Reserva 2007, an exceptional hand crafted wine showing why Tempranillo continues to be Spain’s dominant grape.
Thursday 1st March, Old Billingsgate 10.30am - 6pm.
