Bonsai Shiraz, Berton Vineyards, High Eden 2007

Highly aromatic nose showing the wide spectrum of berry, peppercorn, tomato leaf, liquorice, raisin and smoked sausages. Fully ready, super silky entry, with concentrated fruit and plenty of stylish handled oak. Gorgeous mouthfeel.
Decanter, October 2011 – 5 Stars

Gewurztraminer Alto Adige DOC, Cantine Tramin, Alto Adige 2010

This refined version shows a heady, perfumed thread of exotic spices and oils weaving through the flavours of honeydew melon, lychee and candied orange peel. Dry and mouth-watering, with a tinge of smoky minerality on the long finish.
James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, October 2011 – 91/100

St Joseph Blanc, Domaine Courbis, Rhone 2009

Pure and racy with piercing yellow apple, Cavaillon melon and salted butter notes laced with chamomile and quinine. Long, with a gorgeous mouthfeel on the finish.
James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, October 2011 – 91/100

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Capitel Monte Olmi DOC, Azienda Agricola Fratelli Tedeschi, Veneto 2006

A thread of peat smoke runs through this more traditional-style Amarone, which offers flavours of raosted plum, dried cherry, raisin, cigar box, pekoe tea and pepper, with pother ground spices. Tightly packed tannins push though on the long finish. This one is for the cellar.
Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, September 2011 – 93/100

Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi, Tuscany 2006

Starts out ripe and accessible, boasting plum, cherry and chocolate flavours, then turns firm and tight on the finish, where tobacco and mineral notes take over. I like the potential of this when it integrates more.
